Philanthropy and Welfare

Philanthropy and Welfare

ICL regards it as a great privilege and a moral obligation to participate in supporting the communities in which it works. For many years ICL contributed financially and socially to a wide range of welfare projects, from daycare centers for children, to health and welfare programs. ICL donates resources, including funds, equipment, personnel and volunteers, to needy and weakened populations. \

ICL sponsors 27 daycare centers for primary school children

ICL’s daycare centers provide development and nurturing activities for hundreds of at-risk children in southern Israel towns and settlements during after-school hours. The children enjoy extracurricular activities, funded by ICL, as well as educational and moral content, through an active and close relationship that they develop with ICL’s current and retired employees, who volunteer at the centers. The employees serve as counselors, friends and role models, and maintain close and ongoing contact with the children. They organize enrichment programs, hikes and other leisure activities, devoting much of their free time to this important project.

In 2017 we opened a new educational program to empower children and improve their self-image, at daycare centers and “warm homes”.

Activities are offered to high school students at the “warm homes”, as well as therapeutic programs for youth aged 13 to 18, especially for young girls at risk. The “warm homes”. offer a social framework and therapeutic and educational programs during the afternoon hours. ICL funds various activities, purchases required equipment and its volunteers organize enrichment projects, parties and hikes, as well as special events.

Daycare Center for Children with Down’s Syndrome

About 40 children and youth attend the center located in the Hapoel Beer Sheba building. ICL funds activities at the center and special events that are adapted to the participants’ needs, and are intended to promote and develop their abilities and skills. In addition, ICL volunteers participate in a variety of activities, birthday celebrations and special events for the Jewish Holidays.

‘Tzaad Kadima’- a step forward

‘Tzaad Kadima’ (a step forward, in Hebrew) is a nonprofit organization that strives to operate programs for education and rehabilitation of children and adults suffering from CP (Cerebral palsy), motor disabilities and development challenges throughout Israel. ICL supports the ongoing activities of Tzaad Kadima.

‘Maslan’ – Assistance Center for Victims of Sexual Abuse

The Assistance Center for Victims of Sexual Abuse and Violence in the Negev provides practical help and emotional support to victims and their families. This non-profit organization also works to promote social change by hosting educational and preventative activities, such as lectures throughout the Negev. ICL is the main supporter of the Center’s activities, providing hundreds of thousands of NIS every year. Also, ICL volunteers serve on the non-profit organization’s board of directors and in the emergency call center and provide personal assistance to victims.

Food Vouchers for the Holidays

ICL continues a multi-year tradition of providing semi-annual food vouchers to needy families in the Negev, where many of its employees work: for Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) and Passover. Many of these families are elderly and are registered with welfare departments in the Negev.

Adopt a Soldier

The Adopt a Soldier program, operated by the Association for the Benefit of IDF Soldiers, connects business companies and donors with combat units, by providing moral and physical support. The project aims at providing assistance to IDF combat soldiers, who have been in a continual, day-to-day routine of duty, resulting in exhaustion, activity overload and high-risk situations. ICL adopts two regiments: the desert patrol regiment (585), comprised mainly of Bedouin soldiers and the Rimon Regiment in the Givati Brigade.

In addition to financial support, ICL offers support to the soldiers, not only during their military service, but also after completing their army service, and provides professional training courses and assistance in their search for employment. ICL also hosts units of IDF soldiers at its social events.

Friends and Volunteers at the Soroka Medical Center

The Soroka Medical Center is the largest medical center in the South, serving all residents of the Negev. ICL contributes an annual donation of one million NIS to the ‘Friends of the Soroka Medical Center’ at an annual fundraising event. In addition, as part of the Lihiyot Me’uravim program, ICL employees volunteer at the medical center, ICL funds the employment of employees’ children before their recruitment into the IDF and assists other hospitals in Israel in a variety of projects.
